Learning Studio - Supporting children with Dyslexia and other learning differences

The Learning Studio is designed to provide parents and caretakers with the tools and strategies they need to help their children increase their reading and comprehension skills while allowing parents to converse with each other in a supportive environment. Inspired by Richland Library in South Carolina, this project will provide access to relevant trainings, resources, and more.

  • A collection of materials is housed in the Goldsboro Library’s Children Department to support students with learning differences including dyslexia, autism, ADHD, and processing delays.

  • Parents can explore resources for their children to find the best solutions for their child’s needs.

  • Items in the collection focus on handwriting, phonics, basic math, communication, hand strength, and sensory issues.
  • Materials in the resource center are available for any Wayne County Public Library cardholder to check-out at no additional charge.

  • Materials in the collection circulate for 3 weeks and items returned late are subject to fines and fees.

  • For assistance with identifying items to use, please see a member of the library’s children’s department.

  • Additionally, children are welcome to use the adaptive seating while visiting our Goldsboro Library’s children’s department which features a variety of wobble stools and floor recliners.
