Local History & Genealogy

The Local History Room in the Goldsboro Library is the place to discover more about Wayne County and your family’s history. The room is available during library hours but is only staffed Monday-Friday between 9:00am-5:30pm.

We offer:

  • Special Collections – Photographs, maps, letters, and more related to our county’s history.

  • Reference Book Collection – Yearbooks, city directories, family histories, and more!

  • Microfilm – Local papers including the Goldsboro News Argus and Mount Olive Tribune

  • Vertical Files – Research compiled on family genealogies and Wayne County’s history

  • Archival Scanner – A high quality scanner available to digitize photographs and documents
