GOLDSBORO, NC, August 24, 2021 –

Wayne County Public Library is pleased to announce that we have begun accepting applications from local college students for the Marty Tschetter Local History Internship. This internship, established by the Wayne County Public Library Foundation, honors the life of former Local History Librarian, Marty Tschetter.

“The library is grateful to the Library Foundation for their support in offering this internship. We are excited to share our knowledge and passion for local history with a new generation,” said Kelsey Chandler, Local History Reference Librarian.

This internship will give a current college student the opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience at the Goldsboro Library in the Local History Department. Interns will develop skills in digitization, online exhibit creation, historical research, and more. The intern selected will begin working this fall with a planned start date in late September. Students living in or attending school in Eastern North Carolina are encouraged to apply as local colleges will be prioritized.

Interns need to be able to complete their internship while the Local History Room is staffed, between the hours of 9:00 AM-5:30 PM Monday-Friday. Interns will be required to complete 150 hours of work in Local History at $15 per hour, totaling $2,250.

Please visit the library’s website at wcpl.org to find the Marty Tschetter Internship page and application as well as many other details online.
