The Book Flood event (also known as Jólabókaflóðið in Icelandic) is a tradition that originated in Iceland where on Christmas Eve books are purchased as gifts to give to loved ones. The tradition extends into the night, when Icelanders will often read their new books and drink hot chocolate. Although our Book Flood event will not take place on Christmas Eve, we will still want to celebrate this tradition. At this event, we will have storytime and read “The Book Flood,” drink hot chocolate and eat Christmas cookies, as well as have a book giveaway. We ask for families to register using this form.
