Students of Wayne County Public Schools may use their PowerSchool number to access the library’s databases and online resources (it’s free, reliable information on a wide variety of topics), and to check out digital materials (ebooks, e-audiobooks, and e-magazines). - Tutor.com is an online tutoring program available to K-12 students for free through the Library. With your library card, you can connect with expert tutors from 3:00-10:00 pm, 7 days a week. Tutors can help you finish your homework, study for your next test or help with essay writing.
- NCLive – This rich resource includes thousands of full-text articles, electronic books, downloadable audiobooks, and specialized databases covering topics such as history and genealogy, business and investing, education and psychology, health and medicine, and literature and art. It also includes a collection of reference books covering a wide range of subject areas.
- SIRS Discoverer – Includes articles, primary sources, websites and graphics on almost any subject.
- SIRS Issues Researcher – Explore the pros and cons of current issues. Browse through lists in subjects such as business, ethics, health, technology, school, world culture and politics, civil rights and liberties, and crime and punishment.
- CQ Researcher – offers well-researched reports on a variety of topics including health, the environment, education, health, social trends, and technology. Each report gives an in-depth look at an issue, providing background, assessment of the current situation, pro/con viewpoints, and charts/graphs/tables.
- NCPedia – an online encyclopedia about North Carolina, containing information about the state, its history, people, government, and educational institutions.
- Ebook Central Academic and Public Library Complete – ebooks from a wide variety of subject areas and for all age levels.
- ProQuest Central – General reference database for over 175 subjects from magazines, journals and newspapers, including peer-reviewed and scholarly works.
- Goldsboro News-Argus – Search full-text articles on local news, issues, events, people and more from current and archived issues of Goldsboro News-Argus.
- Ben’s Guide to the U.S. Government, a service of the Government Publishing Office (GPO), is designed to inform students, parents, and educators about the Federal Government, which issues the publications and information products disseminated by the GPO’s Federal Depository Library Program.
- CFNC -This website gives you tips and resources for the whole college process. Whether you’re just considering applying, or you’ve already begun the process, check out the College Foundation of North Carolina for help.
- SAT Practice – Test your awareness of analogies, your mastery of math, and your critical reading readiness with free SAT practice tests. The website also has tips on how to register and how to study.
- LearningExpress Library – Organized into targeted learning centers, this e-resource supports those looking to improve core academic skills, pass the GED®, prepare for college, join the military, obtain occupational certification, find a job, change careers, become a U.S. citizen and much more.
- FAFSA – Federal Student Aid, a part of the U.S. Department of Education, is the largest provider of student financial aid in the nation.
- Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center – Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center is a comprehensive resource that enables users to explore industries and careers, plan their education, and research best practices for résumés, cover letters, interviewing, networking, and salaries/benefits. The database includes articles, career advice blogs, and streaming video.
- Job & Career Accelerator – This extensive database has an easy-to-use search tool for finding jobs, creating resumes, accessing training for good interviews, and even career advice. Users have access to over 120 model resumes, a college and scholarship finder feature, and interest assessments.
Steele Memorial Library has regular Teen programs on Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00 pm each month. Themes include crafting, science experiments, game night, escape rooms, and book discussions. The Goldsboro Library and Northern Wayne Library have programming that includes teens with other age groups.
