  2. Duncan Public History: The Role of Cotton Mills in the Southern Economy (Goldsboro)

    November 8, 2018, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Goldsboro Library

    Local cotton farms, a growing population who needed jobs, the advent of steam power, and the close proximity of the railroad made Goldsboro an ideal location for textile mills. Professor Emeritus Dr. Gary Mock, from the College of Textiles at NC State University, will talk about the rise of the textile industry, the introduction of machinery, and the growth of the Southern economy.
