Groundhug Day by Anne Marie Pace
Did you have a great time over the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year holidays? Did you have even more fun during our recent unexpected time off school due to snow and ice? Most people think that the holidays are over once we reach New Years Day, but not quite!
Moose is having a Valentine's Day party, and all his friends are so excited! Everyone except Groundhog, that is. If Groundhog sees his shadow outside, he'll hide in his hole for six more weeks and miss the party!
Determined to help their friend join them, Moose, Squirrel, Bunny, and Porcupine put their heads together and come up with a plan. But will it be enough to get Groundhog out to play?

A Boy, a Mouse, and a Spider by Barbara Herkert
When young Elwyn White lay in bed as a sickly child, a bold house mouse befriended him. When the time came for kindergarten, an anxious Elwyn longed for the farm, where animal friends awaited him at the end of each day. Propelled by his fascination with the outside world, he began to jot down his reflections in a journal. Writing filled him with joy, and words became his world.
Today, Stuart Little and Charlotte’s Web are beloved classics of children’s literature, and E. B. White is recognized as one of the finest American writers of all time.
Have you ever read Charlotte's Web? This book tells about the boy who grew up to write that story! Sometimes it is fun to think about our favorite authors as young children. What will you grow up to write or do?

I Won't Eat That by Christopher Silas Neal
Cat is very hungry. But cat food is dry and dull and not at all yummy. So what in the world should Cat eat instead? Turtle eats worms, but worms are too wiggly. Fox eats rabbits, but rabbits are too bouncy. What everyone else loves to eat is thoroughly unappetizing to Cat. Until, by chance, the thing Cat really wants to eat appears right in front of him. What could it be?
We have a big holiday coming up--Thanksgiving! What do we do on Thanksgiving? We eat! Even though it is nice to eat all the yummy foods we like in one sitting, what would you do if nothing sounded good to you? This Cat went around and asked everyone what they liked to eat...but finally found what she really liked to eat in the end. Do you have the same favorite food as your mom? Your brother? Your friend? Probably not! We all like different things, but isn't it nice when we figure out what we really like and get to enjoy it?
Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
